“Juvenile” arrested in connection with the murder of the girl from Wisconsin Lily Peters

A juvenile suspect was arrested Tuesday in connection with the murder of a 10-year-old Wisconsin girl whose body was found near a footpath the day after she was reported missing, police said.

Chipeva Falls Police Chief Matthew Kelm said the suspect knew the victim, Lily Peters, and that the public was no longer in danger, according to a press conference recorded by KMSP-TV.

“While nothing will bring Lily Peters back or change what has happened, we are very grateful to be able to share this news with the family and the community,” Kelm said of the arrest.

Peters was reported missing by her father Sunday night. The fourth-grader’s body was found Monday morning in a wooded area near her aunt’s home in Chipeva Falls, police said.

No information on the juvenile suspect was provided on Tuesday, including the person’s age, gender or relationship. The charges were not announced immediately.

Kelm thanked the cohesive community of 14,000 for sending more than 200 councils, which he said were “crucial in resolving this case.”
