A teenager is in custody after three people were stabbed in a battle in downtown Scarborough on Tuesday night.
Toronto police responded to reports of a stabbing at the bustling Scarborough Mall, located at 401 Highway and McCowan Road, around 6:30 p.m.
According to investigators, there was a quarrel between the two countries and several people were involved.
“The fight took place between two groups that were in the mall,” Const said. Alex Lee told reporters in front of the mall on Tuesday night. “There was a quarrel in which three people received stab wounds and stab wounds.
One of the victims was rushed to hospital, police said.
The Toronto Paramedic Service said a total of three men were transported to a trauma center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
A 14-year-old boy has since been detained and a knife was found at the scene, Lee said.
He said the stabbing took place in the mall, but there are many scenes. There was a yellow police strip tearing off part of the parking lot in front of the third entrance.
Lee described the stabbing as an “isolated incident” and said police had deployed available resources in the area to make sure it was safe.
The stabbing happened because many people were outside shopping in the busy mall, and police said they were asking all possible witnesses to come out.
“We appeal to the public. It was a mall open this week here, there are people out there shopping. “We believe there are witnesses to this incident,” Lee said.
“In fact, we’ve reviewed some of the videos that show that there are public figures who were present during the quarrel, so we’re turning to them.”
Police are asking anyone with information or video to appear before investigators or call Crime Stoppers anonymously.
