Orlando mother says son shot teenagers trying to break into his car in self-defense

One mother says her son had a gun pointed at him in their own alley, so he fired back in self-defense.

ORANGE DISTRICT, Florida – Two teenagers were shot dead by a man after allegedly trying to break into his car, Orange County lawmakers said.

According to investigators, the call was first received around 2 am as a signal for the theft of a car with shots from Martinwood Drive in Pine Hills.

Deputies say that when they arrived, they met a man who said he had encountered teenagers aged 13 and 16 who tried to steal his car. The victim said the suspects had made “threatening moves” against him and that he had fired several shots.

The two teenagers were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators will assess whether criminal charges have been filed.
