Anne-Marie Trevelyan, the Minister of International Trade, revealed that she was once “nailed to the wall by a male MP” who said “I have to want him because he was a powerful man”.
Ms. Trevelyan also said she was a victim of “wandering hands.”
The cabinet minister was asked on LBC radio if she had ever witnessed misogyny in parliament, and she said: “I have testified and been at the forefront of misogyny by some colleagues, many times.
“It is very convenient for me to be strong and honest, just a woman, called when she came in my direction.
Asked how this misogyny presented itself, Ms. Trevelyan said: “Well, we could describe it as wandering hands, if you want, we can describe it as, you know, a few years ago, when you were nailed to the wall by a male MP , who is no longer in the House, I say with pleasure, saying that I should want him because he was a powerful man.
“This kind of thing, the abuse of power that shows a very small minority, thank God, from fellow men, is completely unacceptable.
