  • A member of the Ohio school board is facing calls to resign after accidentally posting a link to a porn site on a public Facebook page.

  • Member Darby Body wrote the wrong link while advocating against sources of sex education in Ohio schools.

  • Lakota’s school board voted Wednesday to rebuke Bodie and called for her resignation.

An Ohio school board voted to reprimand a member and called for her resignation after she accidentally posted a link to a porn site in a public Facebook post.

Earlier this week, Lakota school board member Darby Bodie, who is campaigning as a staunch opponent of critical racial theory, posted on his public Facebook page in response to the council, which is weighing future reviews of curricula for the area.

In the post, Bodie protested against the school district hiring a company to review its curriculum without ensuring that the board and the company understood the CRT. She continued in the post to object to the sex education topics she claims are already in Ohio schools. It included links that included content “about masturbation, sex toys, everything taught except abstinence.”

However, one of the links made the mistake of directing those who clicked on it to a site containing pornographic material instead of the sex education site she intended to include.

Boddy responded to a typo in a subsequent post on Wednesday with the correct link.

“One of the pornographic sites that was placed in my communication as part of my list of what to look for in our schools was a typo, and although it was not intended to be part of my communication, it is still representative of the disgusting material this is put before our children, “she wrote.

Later on Wednesday, Lakota’s school board convened an emergency meeting and decided to reprimand Bodi, who was the only one who disagreed with the 4-1 vote.

The body adopted a separate proposal in a 4-0 vote demanding her immediate resignation. Ohio school boards do not have the authority to remove members from the panel.

The story continues

“Publishing pornographic content on the official, public account of a board member, which can be accessed by many of our own students, is absolutely unacceptable,” board president Linda O’Connor said Wednesday night, according to local newspaper WXIX. “Furthermore, it is unfortunate to publicly accuse our curriculum of containing such pornographic material.”

“You have exposed our community, including potentially children, to inappropriate sexual content,” O’Connor continued. “Trying to raise awareness of what to keep outside of our schools, your way of communicating has put it directly in our school community. Your behavior was fundamentally wrong and we expect you to take responsibility. “

Bodie came out in the middle of the meeting, saying, “I will not be part of this political trick.”

On Thursday, Bodie posted another statement about the incident on Facebook, saying he “will not apologize for launching these sites and I do not regret releasing them.”

“Light should be illuminated on this material,” she wrote. “I urge the community to research them and ask yourself if you want to know if they are in your school or not.”

Prior to the Facebook typo, Lakota’s school board had previously faced calls to denounce Bodie “for her continued disrespect and aggression” to Lakota’s superintendent Matt Miller in a petition that garnered more than 1,600 signatures on Thursday.

“Ms. Bodie’s statements and behavior serve to undermine trust in the district’s leadership at the board level,” according to the petition. “In addition, with her words and statements, she humiliates the integrity of the entire Lakota headquarters. This behavior must not be tolerated and must not be allowed to continue. We urge action to call this behavior completely inappropriate. “

O’Connor and Bodie did not respond immediately to Insider’s request for comment.
