A 19-year-old Florida man has been arrested and charged with allegedly shooting and killing his mother at their home in Polk County this week.
Seth Settle reportedly shot and killed his mother on Thursday after she ordered him to stop smoking cigars in his bedroom, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said, according to Fox 13 Tampa Bay.

The incident happened shortly after Settle’s father quit his job on what looked like a normal weekday.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m., however, he received a call that his wife had been taken to hospital.
Authorities were warned of the incident for the first time by Settle’s 24-year-old brother, who found his mother collapsed at their home in Lake Wales.
Authorities did not immediately suspect fake play, as there were no reports of blood or obvious injuries to the victim’s body.
But when Settle’s father picked up his daughter from school and returned home, he was informed that his wife had died.
After Settle’s mother was pronounced dead, a nurse examined the body and found what appeared to be stab wounds.

Judd said the victim was shot in the heart, stopping him immediately and stopping the flow of blood.
Settle escaped, but later admitted to investigators that he shot his mother.
Judd said Settle claimed he was depressed and had a gun to his head before his mother entered his bedroom.
He claims that the pistol was accidentally discharged when he went to drop his weapon.

But the sheriff said authorities believe he shot his mother in anger.
Judd reportedly said that each indication referred to the 52-year-old mother as “the most beautiful mother in the world” and said the family was considered nice and hardworking.
“The only people who are more shocked and stunned by law enforcement are the closest family. No one could see that,” Judd said.
“He ran past her – didn’t help, didn’t call 911,” the sheriff added. “I can’t begin to tell you the horror of this event.”

Settle was charged with second-degree murder, falsifying evidence, five counts of providing false information to law enforcement and firing a firearm into a residential property, a local newspaper reported.
It is also alleged that the gun was purchased illegally.
