An armed man on an electric scooter shoots through the window of a house with people inside

An armed man on an electric scooter opened fire on a house where there were people.

Police received reports of a firearm being fired around 12:15 a.m. today (Sunday, May 1) at a house in Dingle. The window of Maley Close’s house was damaged, corresponding to a gunshot.

People were at home, but no casualties were reported after the shooting. The shooter is believed to have escaped on an electric scooter to Peel Street.

An investigation has been launched, with house-to-house inspections, video surveillance and forensic experts in the area, hoping to identify the perpetrators. Police patrols will also continue in the area to reassure residents.

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Woods said: “The investigation is at an early stage and a cordon has been set.

“Although no injuries have been reported, the firing of firearms is extremely reckless and dangerous. I would like to assure the local community that we are working to find the culprits and bring them to justice.

“We have a zero-tolerance approach to anyone involved in the use, possession and possession of firearms, and we will ruthlessly prosecute anyone involved in this horrific crime.

DCI Woods appeals for information from the public. She added: “This incident happened in a residential area, so it is likely that there are people who may have witnessed the incident, seen someone act suspiciously or know who is responsible. I urge these people to come out, either directly to the police or through Crimestoppers.

“I also urge anyone who has been near Maley Close, Peel Street, Ullet Road and Park Road in the Dingle area around midnight onwards who has seen or heard anything suspicious to contact us.

“I urge people to check your video surveillance or give a camera for footage that may have captured something that will help in the investigation and help us find those responsible.
