CMPD investigates murder in southern Charlotte – WSOC TV

CHARLOTTE – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a murder in South Charlotte.

Police said they responded to a call about a cut-out firearm at the Courtyard by Marriott on West Woodlawn Road around 6 p.m.

At the scene, police said they found a man next to a car behind the hotel with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim later died on the spot, according to the CMPD.

Police say detectives from the homicide squad are investigating.

“We do not know if the victim is staying here. We don’t know if he was just in the area. Wrong place, wrong time or if a situation was known. But we’re working through it to see where this information is taking us, “said Major Dave Robinson.

The investigation into the case is active and ongoing. Anyone with information about the shooting has been asked to call 704-432-TIPS and ask to speak directly to a homicide detective.
