Katie Kenyon: Police confirm body found in forest missing mother of two

A body found during the search for the missing Katie Kenyon has been confirmed by police to be the mother of two children.

Ms. Kenyon, 33, was last seen boarding a silver Ford Transit van in Burnley at around 9:30 a.m. on April 22, which then headed to the Bolton-by-Bowland area of ​​Lancashire, police said.

An investigation by the Interior Ministry confirmed that she had died from head injuries.

Lancashire police found the body Friday night in the Bowland Forest after receiving new information about Ms. Kenyon’s whereabouts.

On Friday, 50-year-old Andrew Burfield appeared via video link from HMP Preston for a brief court hearing on the murder of Ms. Kenyon.

Mr Burfield of Todmorden Road, Burnley, spoke only to confirm his identity during a seven-minute hearing at Preston Crown Court. He was remanded in custody.

Judge Simon Medland QC told the defendant that the trial was scheduled for November 14 this year.

On Sunday afternoon, the forces tweeted: “Now we can sadly confirm that the body found in the Bowland Forest is that of Katie Kenyon.

“We found Katie on Friday after a long search and now she is officially identified as the missing mother of Padiham, 33 years old.

“Yesterday a pathological examination was performed by the Ministry of Interior and the cause of death was head injuries.

“Our thoughts remain with Katie’s family and loved ones at this difficult time. The family continues to be supported by our specially trained officers. ”

Police searched Gisborne Forest, a remote beauty spot in eastern Lancashire, on Wednesday last week.

More than 60 detectives from four police forces toured the dense forest area in search of Ms. Kenyon.

The hunt involved police and firefighters, dog teams, horse police, mountain rescue volunteers and drones.

Ms. Kenyon’s family thanked the well-wishers after exceeding their £ 10,000 goal to pay for her funeral and provide for their children.

Mrs. Kenyon’s sister Sarah thanked those who donated in a Facebook post, saying: “Boys !! We have exceeded our goal !!

“Each of you was absolutely amazing [sic]!! And we all saw you as a family! Thank you so much!!”
