Katie Taylor defeats Amanda Serrano by split decision in classic history

Taylor wins by split decision

What a battle. What a victory for Taylor. And a rematch would be an easy, easy, easy sale.

We move on to the scorecards

96-94 Serrano – 97-93 Taylor – and … 96-93 TAYLER!

10 rounds

HOLY WHAT A FINAL RUN – what a great open finale with the exchange of the two fighters. In the end, Serrano received a severe cut on her right eye when everything was said and done, and I think she will regret not putting Taylor’s last touches in the fifth, because my scorecard is 7-3 Taylor in rounds.

Round 9

The referee has to watch the timekeeper in the final stages of the rounds for his reply, because he is trying to hear the bell for the noise in the garden. This circle will probably divide the audience more than any other. But Taylor’s boxing is still better for me.

Round 8

Taylor’s left catches Serrano coming again and again, but this battle can easily be reduced to fine margins per round (except for at least the 5th) on the cards of the three people whose opinions are most important. For me it’s 5-3 Taylor.

7th round

Very close circle and another whole. I think Serrano managed to overcome it and she also ended up with cleaner shots in the final stages. 4-3 in a round for the Irish star.

6 rounds

This battle is fantastic. They are indeed open to each other, but fortunately for Taylor, she manages to avoid the danger she encountered in the fifth part for the most part and return to her alien style. 4-2 for the champion, but all we have to play for yet.

5th round

A HUGE circle for Serrano, she really strings them and has Taylor in serious deep water. Her best, longest attack in battle so far, and Taylor looked hurt. 3-2 in the rounds for the champion, but will she manage to catch a second spirit from this round?

4th round

Taylor changes her approach with enough frequency and variety to make the challenger guess, and her tremendous speed of hands keeps her forward on the ground. 3-1 for the champion, but Serrano is far from this battle.

3 rounds

Fantastic circle. Taylor’s book ends two minutes with great boxing to overcome it, even though she was on the receiving side in the middle of it. The bell rings immediately after the best exchange of battle so far. Champion slightly ahead, two rounds to one.

2nd round

Better than Serrano. Good lands, several combinations. Taylor continues to find ways, but I would say even after two.

1 round

Good start to the battle. Taylor looks absolutely zonal, boxing with speed and precision. Serrano has some joy with a few good goals in the middle, but this is Taylor’s round to begin with.

And we are on the move!

Ref gives final instructions, the seconds are cleared from the ring and here is the bell for the first round. 10 rounds, two minutes per round.

Introductions to the ring

And the volume level shows no signs of reassurance. It will be a spectacle. And it’s not too late to get involved!

The champion is coming

This atmosphere inside the MSG is something else for both alleys.

Taylor vs. Serrano: Rings

We had the Puerto Rican, Irish and American national anthems. Now comes the contender!

Smith won by stopping in 10 rounds

It’s over! Smith stopped in the 10th! He immediately returned to work at the beginning of the round and had enough problems with Vargas with the ropes to be rejected. Great performance, great victory!

Round 9

A great round from Smith, not only a stabilization after an improved eighth of Vargas, but also one that could potentially get him over the line in terms of judges, although we’ll see what these three will say if the distance is reached. So far on my map is 6-3 Beefy.

Round 8

The best round of Vargas in a while, with better movement and a few good counterattacks. I have him lagging behind Smith by 3-5 in rounds.

7th round

A closer circle in terms of clean lands, but Smith is likely to gain a lot of favor from the judges for aggression and control of this. I have it up five rounds to two for now.
