Five people were injured, including a child, in a “mass gathering” of the M4 today (Sunday, May 1). The “serious accident” happened near Heathrow Airport and an air ambulance can be seen landing on the highway.
The child, a 10-year-old girl, was in a life-threatening injury. A Met Police spokesman confirmed that the child and four other people injured in the crash had been taken to hospitals in London.
The multi-vehicle crash happened around 1:43 pm on the M4 Eastbound between junction 4 with Heathrow Airport and junction 3 with Hayes / Heston. The road was initially blocked in both directions, but since then the road in the West direction has been reopened.

Inrix, the traffic data company, said an air ambulance had arrived, while a Met Police spokesman confirmed that the air ambulance had taken the girl to hospital. The incident earlier caused queues on the M25 clockwise between junction 13 at Staines and junction 15 with M4.
Inrix said: “M4 Eastbound closed long delays, queue traffic due to a serious accident, two cars were involved between J4 (Heathrow / Uxbridge) and J3 A312 The Parkway (Hayes / Heston). Congestion to M25 J15 and on A4 Bath Road north of Heathrow, while people take the deviation.
The accident happened shortly before 14:00 on the eastern lane, which remained closed after the presence of an ambulance.
A Met Police spokesman added: “At 1:43 a.m. Sunday, May 1, police were called after a collision with four vehicles near junction three of the M4 in West Drayton. Officers attended the London ambulance and the London Fire Brigade.
“A London ambulance landed at the scene. A 10-year-old girl traveling in one of the cars was airlifted to a hospital in South London with injuries believed to be life-threatening.”
