A Torquay woman has been arrested after a pedestrian died in a collision

A woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal road crash in Torquay. The incident happened on Sunday, May 1.

Officers were called to the area shortly after midnight after a collision between a pedestrian and a car on Barton Hill Road. The pedestrian, a man of about 40 years, received life-threatening injuries and later died in hospital.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall police confirmed that the man’s relatives had been notified and were receiving support from specially trained staff. The driver, a 20-year-old woman from Torquay, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by negligent driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
