SNP MP Mhairi Black apologizes after a video of drinking on a train appeared

SNP MP Mhairi Black apologized after being filmed drinking in a camp on a ScotRail train despite a ban on alcohol.

Footage of Paisley and Renfrewshire South MPs drinking from a can surrounded by football fans has surfaced.

The video was first published on the website of Spectator magazine, where it is said to have happened on a train traveling to Glasgow Central after a football match between Air United and Partick Thistle.

The ban on alcohol on board ScotRail trains was extended when the rail franchise was nationalized on April 1st.

A spokesman for the MP said: “Mhairi was reminded of the rules and apologized.”

Nicola Sturgeon was asked about the MP’s apology while campaigning in Edinburgh before the local elections.

The first minister said she had not spoken to Black about the incident.

She told the PA news agency: “She apologized, I’m sure she will deeply regret that she allowed this slip.

“But she did the right thing and apologized, and I know that Mhairi takes her own behavior and integrity very seriously.”

She later told reporters that she did not think ScotRail’s ban on alcohol should be lifted.
