The prime minister seemed a little confused during his visit to the Northeast after mixing Tyneside and Teeside in an already deleted tweet. Boris Johnson traveled to Whitley Bay on Monday holiday to speak to locals during an election visit.
He was spotted entering the Whitley Whaler chippy on Marine Avenue, where he ordered “small chips” before walking along the waterfront, and was spotted chatting with pedestrians outside the Spanish city. He tweeted his photo in Whitley Bay, but said it was in Teeside.
Prime was also on Teeside earlier in the day after being in Hartlepool. The prime minister toured the city’s power plant with Hartlepool MP Jill Mortimer.
In an already deleted tweet, the Prime Minister said: “It was a fantastic day for a campaign in Teesside, where we are providing a massive investment program as part of our plan to level the UK. Remember. to vote for conservatives this Thursday for conservative councilors who keep your municipal tax low. ”

And after annoyed locals pointed out the mistake, the tweet was deleted and rewritten to say Northeast instead of Teesside. But many lawmakers and Northeasters turned to Twitter to resent the mistake.
North of Tyne Major, Jamie Driscoll said: “It’s not surprising that Boris Johnson tweeted that he was in Teesside when he was in Whitley Bay – he has no moral compass. #WhitleyBayNotTeesside.”

Alan Campbell, an MP from Tynemouth, said: “The prime minister believes he has campaigned in Teesside. In fact, he was in Whitley Bay North Tyneside. He doesn’t really care where he is or what he says. He doesn’t care who he is dating or what they care about. Vote for Labor on Thursday. ”
Kate Osborne, an MP from Jarrow, said: “Boris Johnson knows so much about the Northeast that he thinks he’s in Teeside when he’s in Whitley Bay. There’s evidence in the signs behind you, Boris.”
Dan Hicks, meanwhile, wrote, “You can delete your tweet, but Whitley Bay is still in Tyneside, not Teesside,” and Rachel Wearmouth said, “It’s not Teesside. This is Whitley Bay, which is in * Tyneside *. Quickly deleted from PM, but still very, very funny. “
