George Street Deaths: Slyford’s “Silent” Couple Dead Found Causes Shock Waves in the City

Friends and neighbors of the couple, found dead at their home in a small town in Lincolnshire, expressed their “shock” about the situation. The couple was found dead at their home on George Street, Slyford, on May 1.

Flowers and candles could be seen in front of the small terraced house on Monday afternoon, and a small police presence was still at the scene. The couple is locally named Davidas Gabalis and Diana Gabaliene.

A friend who worked with Mr Gabalis at the Moy Park plant in Alnwick said she was “shocked” to learn of the tragic deaths at work. Veronica Rutkowka, 41, of Slyford, said: “We don’t know anything about how it happened, he [Deividas] he was a good man.

Lincolnshire police have confirmed that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. Detective Inspector Andy McWatt said: “We still have several lines of investigation to establish the exact circumstances of what happened, and post-mortem investigations are yet to be carried out to determine what caused the deaths of both, but I’m pleased. that at this point we do not need to look for anyone else in connection with this investigation. “

There is a clear sense of shock among the neighbors on George Street. Jennifer Cook, 69, has lived on the road for 38 years opposite the house where they were found.

Ms Cook said: “It’s very shocking to hear that they died, I didn’t know them – just to say hello – they kept to themselves.

“The whole police arrived around 4 pm yesterday [Sunday], there were many police cars and vans. It’s really scary that something like this has happened. “

His colleague from George Street, the father of six children Michael Trolop, who has lived on the street for three years, echoed Ms. Cook’s feelings, saying: “They were a very quiet couple. You wouldn’t know they were there. “

Asked how he felt about death, Mr Trolop, 42, said: “I haven’t had time to think about it. Most of the people here are vulnerable, there are a lot of old people and that can be scary for them. “
