A man suffered a serious head injury after being attacked on a golf course in Renfrewshire.
The 49-year-old, who was walking his dog in the area, was involved in a quarrel with a group of golfers near the 16th green at Cochrane Castle Golf Course in Johnstone, just before he was attacked.
The incident happened around 5:55 PM on Sunday.
They visited emergency services and the victim was taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley for treatment.
Medical staff described his injuries as serious as police investigated an appeal to witnesses.
Detective Sergeant Jason Buxton of Paisley Police said: “A man is seriously injured and it is imperative that we trace who is responsible.
“Officers are investigating the area after the incident.
“We believe that the area would be very busy with golfers and we would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact us.
“If you were in the area at the time, please reconsider and contact us if you have any information that may help our investigation.”
