In most European countries, women are legally allowed to have abortions on demand, with Malta being the only EU country to have a total ban on the procedure.

In Poland, however, the Constitutional Tribunal abolished the right of women to terminate pregnancies in 2020, ruling that women can have abortions only in cases of rape, incest or if their lives are in danger.
