A special unit of the Joint Forces of British Columbia managed to seize weapons, drugs and illicit funds from the streets of British Columbia after a month of investigation.
CFSEU-BC targets gangster activity in the Lower Continent, leading to arrests and confiscations of funds and drugs. The investigation created a total of 213 files, 40 of which included criminal and provincial investigations and charges.
The joint operation involved collaborating with the RCMP in Surrey, Langley and Burnaby in an attempt to reduce the potential for gang violence in identified high-risk locations and times.
“Using past crime data as a guide to where to deploy staff most effectively, the goal was to mitigate, disrupt, and suppress violence through proactive and strong enforcement,” said Superintendent Alison Lorin, deputy liaison officer. CFSEU-BC.
During the project, the CFSEU-BC uniformed gang team confiscated:
- 8 firearms, 2 modified airsoft firearms (capable of firing live ammunition) and 12 airsoft / copies
- 2.58 kg of suspected illicit substances, including fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine, of which 0.479 kg of suspected fentanyl equals 31,135 lethal doses
- $ 50,561 Canadian cash
- 5 vehicles
- 87 weapons (knives, bear spray, brass knuckles, sticks, crossbow, battle axes and axes)
“Everyone knows that crime and perpetrators are not tied to municipal borders. “It is crucial that CFSEU-BC use its ability as a provincial agency to coordinate with our partners to ensure that we can collectively disrupt and influence those who choose to engage in gang-related crimes,” said Superintendent Lorin. . “Working with our partners across the province, we will continue to target those most at risk to public safety and hold them accountable.
CFSEU-BC says gang activities and violence and organized crime affect every community in British Columbia.
