TV chef Dave Myers has revealed that he has cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy.
The 64-year-old found fame as half of the cooking duo The Hairy Bikers, along with his friend and fellow chef Sea King.
Speaking of the Hairy Bikers podcast – Agony Uncles with the 55-year-old King, Myers spoke about his diagnosis. He said: “Anyway, Kingi, I have to clean up now, I haven’t been very well lately and I have to do chemotherapy in general, you know all this anyway, so this year will be a little quiet for me, no to shoot, some of the festivals I will not be able to go, some may be OK, but this year is a little unsubscribe for us. “
He went on to ask listeners to respect his privacy while he was being treated, saying: “I had to talk about it because I don’t want to hide under a rock, but I would be happy if people respected my privacy and just leave I keep doing this and give myself and our team all the support they need would be great. But look, the prognosis is good, I’ll be fine. “
He added: “I just have to go home, take care of myself, eat sensibly and overcome this mess, flogging books and be a happy person, so within that I am where I am.
“I may be a bald biker for a while, so that’s just a warning, I don’t want to make a fuss about it, I actually look bald.”
Myers did not specify what type of cancer he had.
King replied to his friend, saying, “No, listen, when I first met you, dude, you looked upside down, Hells Angel, so I like that look, I’ve always liked it, you look cool.”
To which Myers replied: “Yes, I know and in different circumstances I would hug him more, I feel, but in these circumstances this is just something I have to live with. Keep doing this and keep going. ”
Myers has already talked about health problems, including the discovery that he has glaucoma – a condition of the eyes that can lead to blindness. In 2018, Myers revealed that he initially dismissed the condition as a bad hangover.
