The royal family celebrates Archie’s 3rd birthday

The Queen, Prince Charles and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge sent birthday wishes to the son of Prince Harry and Megan Markle Archie.

Archie celebrated her third birthday on Friday in California with her parents and younger sister Lilibet, while members of the royal family turned to social media to mark the occasion.

The royal family’s Twitter account, representing Her Majesty, paid tribute to the Duke’s son and the Duchess of Sussex with a short birthday message.

“I wish Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a very happy 3rd birthday!” Read the tweet, which was accompanied by a photo from the Queen’s first meeting with Archie, just days after his birth on May 6, 2019 at Windsor Castle.

In the photo, Megan is holding Archie wrapped in a white blanket, while her mother Doria Ragland, Prince Harry, Prince Philip and the Queen are smiling at the young man.

During his birthday celebrations, Prince William and Kate shared a photo of Archie taken at his christening in July 2019, which includes Cambridge, Sussex, Ragland, Prince Charles and Camilla and Princess Diana’s sisters, Lady Sarah McCorcodale. and Lady Jane Fellows. They shared the same photo of Archie’s birthday last year.

“I wish Archie a very happy 3rd birthday today,” the publication reads.

Prince Charles and Camilla also shared a message about Prince Harry and Megan’s son on Twitter. However, instead of posting their own photo with Archie, their official account, Clarence House, retweeted the message shared by the Queen’s social media, adding: “Happy Birthday, Archie!”

Archie, who is seventh in line to the throne, has not seen any of his royal relatives since the family moved to California in 2020, hence the sharing of photos already seen. The youngest child was last in the United Kingdom in the autumn of 2019, before the Sussex family left to spend Christmas in Canada.

Prince Harry and Megan visited the Queen at Windsor Castle in April on their way to the Netherlands to attend the Invictus Games on their first joint visit to the United Kingdom after relinquishing their official royal roles and moving to the United States.

However, Archie did not come for the visit and stayed in California. Harry said it was not safe for his family to return to the UK without police protection.

Senior members of the royal family were provided with taxpayer-funded police protection, but Harry lost that when he and Megan retired as working royal members and moved to the United States more than two years ago. The couple said their decision was due to what they described as unbearable interference and racist attitudes in the British media.

Although the Queen has not been able to see Archie in person for several years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Prince Harry has previously said that the two interacted virtually through video chats on Zoom.

The queen has not yet met the daughter of Prince Harry and Megan, her namesake, 10-month-old Lilibet.

Earlier, Prince Harry told NBC’s “Today” that he and Megan wanted to return to the UK with their children for the Queen’s platinum anniversary in June, but said “security issues” could prevent it.
