This is the face of a woman who left her dog in a cage to die while going on vacation for two weeks.
Jade Roberts, 26, appeared in court and pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Daisy. The RSPCA launched an investigation after receiving a call of concern for the welfare of the dog in August 2021.
When Inspector Lean Kragg visited the home of Botanic Place, Liverpool, she discovered that the dog was already dead. Daisy was last alive on July 31, 2021, when Roberts went on vacation for 14 days.

Inspector Liane Krag said: “When I entered the property, I was struck by a strong stench of decaying flesh. Many live flies flew around the property.
“I could see a dead, decaying tiger and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier at one end of a large cage in the front room. The base of the cage was covered with a layer of old feces. In front of the cage was a turquoise plastic bowl upside down, a metal bowl of dry food, and another metal bowl that was empty.
“The property was cluttered and dirty with clothes and rubbish scattered on the furniture and floor. I took Daisy out of the cage and saw that her body was very decomposed, her eyes were missing, there were holes right through her body and there were many worms of different sizes.

After the verdict, Inspector Kragg added: “It was a very sad sight and one that could have been easily avoided.”
Roberts was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, 20 days requiring rehabilitation, a six-month mental health treatment request and an additional £ 128 victim fee at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 21. kept all the animals for 10 years and was ordered to pay £ 500.
She had previously pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering by leaving Daisy unattended without enough food and water, which led to her death. as she arranged for an undisclosed friend to care for Daisy while she was away, and expressed sincere remorse for Daisy’s death. At the time, Roberts was also dealing with personal issues.
