Amber Heard testified two days in a row in the defamation trial between her and her ex-husband Johnny Depp.
Ms. Hurd took the position on Wednesday (May 4th) after being called as a witness by her own team, and returned to her seat on Thursday (May 5th). She will later be questioned by Mr Depp’s legal team.
During her first afternoon of testimony, she provided information about the relationship between her and Mr Depp, telling how they met, how they fell in love and shared several allegations of physical violence as well as allegations of sexual assault.
The second day of Ms. Hurd’s testimony included more accounts of the physical and verbal abuse she alleges Mr. Depp had subjected her to, and another allegation of sexual abuse.
Here is what we have learned from Ms. Hurd’s testimony so far:
Thursday, May 5
She heard sobs as she recounted a battle in which Depp was allegedly sexually assaulted
Ms. Hurd sobbed as she recounted a battle in Australia during which she claimed that Mr. Depp sexually assaulted her with a bottle.
Ms. Hurd said her memories of the night came to her like lightning. Eventually, she said, Mr. Depp was throwing bottles in her direction and she could “feel the glass breaking behind her. [her]And a bottle passing by her head, which made her “terrified.”
She said that Mr. Depp tore her nightgown off her chest and that in the end the nightgown was completely torn off, leaving her naked.
She claims that Mr. Depp started hitting the wall next to her head and holding her by the neck. At one point, she said Mr. Depp was “on top.” [her]Telling her she had ruined it [his] is ****** life ”.
“I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t contact him, I couldn’t get up,” she said. “I do not know how it ended. I don’t know how – I don’t know what happened next. Ms. Hurd sobbed, continuing, “The next thing I remember was leaning back at the bar, which meant my chest was up. I stared at the blue light. My back is on the counter and I thought he was hitting me. I felt this pressure on my pubic bone. I thought he was hitting me. I could feel his hand moving and it looked like it was hitting me. But I could just feel that pressure. “
Ms. Hurd said she remembers being motionless, unwilling to move, looking around the room and seeing broken bottles and broken glass. “I remember not wanting to move because I didn’t know it was broken – I didn’t know if the bottle I had in me was broken,” she said. “I could not feel it. I did not feel pain. I did not feel pain. I felt nothing. … I looked around and saw so many broken windows. … I just remember thinking, “Please, Lord, please. I hope it’s not broken.

Hurd tells the court she thought Depp would kill her
Ms. Hurd said she thought Mr. Depp would kill her “unknowingly” at some point.
Ms. Hurd said Mr. Depp “punches me, punches me repeatedly.”
“I don’t even remember feeling the pain, I just remember hearing Johnny’s voice,” she told a witness stand.
“He came close to my face and shouted again and again and again, every time it sounded louder and more desperate, ‘Damn I hate you, damn I hate you, damn I hate you again and again. Hell, I hate you.
“Then he hit the back of the head, punched him and I don’t even remember feeling any pain, I just heard him scream until I couldn’t hear him anymore.
“I just heard him say he was going to kill me, and he sounded like an animal in pain when he said he hated me.”
“He sounded almost crying or something in his voice was different, he sounded different, he sounded like he was in agony, he was loud and strong.
She added: “I don’t know how many times, he just hit me over and over and over and I really froze and my body felt quiet.
And I thought, This is how I’m dying, now he’s going to kill me. He will kill me and he won’t even realize it. I couldn’t breathe. I remember trying to scream and I couldn’t scream. “

Hurd said Depp’s jealousy led her to give up film roles involving sex scenes and revealing outfits.
She spoke of the feeling that she had to negotiate with Mr Depp when he received a job offer.
“I have always been really independent. I couldn’t imagine not working, “she told the jury on Thursday. “I never imagined I had to explain or justify my work.”
“I had to bargain … every time I got a script,” she added.
She said Mr Depp told her, “You don’t have to work, child, I’ll take care of you, my wife doesn’t have to work.”
Ms. Hurd noted that this may seem polite, but she said she felt it was controlling. She added that she soon began to hesitate about what roles to take so as not to anger Mr Depp.
She said she thought about “how I dress, what behavior I will have, did I have a sex scene” in every film role she considered.
Ms. Hurd testified that she had begun to “minimize kissing scenes” and would “change her wardrobe.”
“I couldn’t have a sex scene,” she added. “Of course, it didn’t all happen at once, it was little by little.”
She said she had only started taking roles that required “minimal make-up” and did not include intimate scenes, adding that it was a “constant battle and negotiation” with Mr Depp.
When she saw sex scenes in scripts, she was offered, she said, “I’ll look at it and feel my gut tighten.”
She added that she would send Mr Depp’s scripts as well as images of the role wardrobe and share information with Mr Depp’s staff.

Hurd says Depp subjected her to a “disgusting” and forced narration of a sex scene with James Franco
Ms Hurd said Mr Depp had once subjected her to a “disgusting” and violent statement on a sex scene she had filmed with actor James Franco.
She was asked about an incident she claimed occurred on a private flight in 2014. At the time, Ms. Hurd was chosen to star alongside Mr. Franco in The Adderall Diaries, a thriller that ultimately the account was launched in 2016.
“He was angry that I took on the job of James Franco,” Ms. Hurd said. “He hated, he hated James Franco, and he was already accusing me of having something secret with him in the past after we did it. [the 2008 movie] Pineapple Express together. ”
Ms. Hurd recalled an alleged altercation on a plane during which she said Mr. Depp had begun questioning her.
“I was polite. I made sure to meet the minimum amount I could. I was moving slowly. “I tried to be polite, but I didn’t commit because there was no victory,” she said.
“And he kept asking me. Eventually he switched from “Do you have something to tell me?” To “Do you want to tell me how much you liked him?” Tell me, did he slip his tongue? It was getting worse and worse.
“It went from asking me how the kissing scene went or how the sex scene went to asking me what James Franco did in the scene, to really explicit about my body … he said really disgusting things about my body, about how I liked it, how I responded. Ms. Hurd said the scene took place in front of some members of Mr. Depp’s team.
“I remember feeling – I’m struggling to tell you how embarrassed I was because he spoke to me in this way,” she said, claiming that Mr Depp used “sexually explicit descriptions of what accuse me I want or I deserve.
She said the battle continued as Mr Depp punched her in the face. At one point, she said she walked away with her back to Mr. Depp.

Asked by her lawyer, Elaine Bradhoft, why she was in the Fairfax County Court in Virginia, Ms. Hurd said: “I’m here because my ex-husband is suing me for an article I wrote.
