Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp hails players as “mentality monsters” against Villarreal
Tottenham have drilled a huge hole in Liverpool’s Premier League – and quadrupled their hopes as Son Hyung-min’s 20th goal of the season drew a 1-1 draw with Anfield to give Manchester City the lead.
Despite Luis Diaz’s equalizer in the 74th minute and manager Jurgen Klopp broke up, knowing he had no choice, the hosts are now demanding that their title rivals lose one of their four remaining matches.
Although the point put Liverpool at the top of the table, it was only thanks to an excellent goal difference of one and Pep Guardiola’s team will have three points ahead with a victory at home against Newcastle on Sunday.
The draw did not contribute much to the Spurs’ hopes of the four, as they remain one point behind rivals north London’s Arsenal, which hosts wrestling Leeds a few hours before the start of City.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp at BT Sport
Jürgen Klopp says he is pleased with his team’s performance and says they will continue to insist until the end of the season. He told BT Sport: “I am really pleased with the performance and I am proud of the mentality they showed against an incredibly good opponent with a game plan.
“Several things were at different levels today, the counter press was exceptional. But they scored our goal and we had to stay calm and increase the pressure, and that’s a huge challenge. But we did it and scored an equalizer.
“Obviously not the result we wanted, but the performance was so good.
“It’s incredibly difficult to play against an opponent with world-class players and a world-class manager when they’ve had a week to prepare and we play every three days.
“The locker room doesn’t fly, come on, but there are other games to play. We just have to keep going. “

Liverpool lost vital points in the title race after being held by Tottenham at Anfield
For the first time in four months, Liverpool scored points other than Man City. After 13 wins in 14 games in the league came a draw. After 12 consecutive victories in the Premier League at Anfield came a different result. Even when Luis Diaz took a second bailout in a week for Liverpool, it lacked a happy ending.
For Tottenham, maybe that was both a bonus point and a case of what it could be. When Son Hyung-Min brought the Spurs forward, it threatened to be the first time Anfield fans witnessed Liverpool’s loss in a Premier League match since Crystal Palace prevailed in April 2017. More importantly, it would have overtaken them. in front of Arsenal.
The North London derby on Thursday is set to be a seismic affair, but perhaps a game to be won by Conte’s wards. The disappointment for them may be that they beat City twice, kept Liverpool at home and away and too often slipped against others.
