A 24-year-old man died in an accident in the village of South Cheshire

Police are calling for help from the public after a 24-year-old pedestrian died in a collision. The man, whose name has not yet been named, was hit by a black Ford Fiesta on A533 Sandbach Road in Rod Heath. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident happened around 11.40 pm on Friday, near the intersection with Keats Drive. The family of the man, who is from the area, is now supported by specialists.

Cheshire police today called on all witnesses or anyone with video footage to come out to help with the investigation. A 22-year-old local woman was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released on parole.

Detective Inspector Nigel Reed said: “Investigations into this incident are ongoing and we are doing our best to establish the full circumstances behind the collision. As part of our investigation, I want to hear from anyone who was in the Sandbach Road area between 11pm and midnight on Friday, May 6, and thinks he may have witnessed the collision or seen something unusual.

“The same goes for anyone who has a video surveillance recording or board from those hours. I would also like to hear from a number of drivers who were spotted driving through the Sandbach Road area at the time of the accident, as well as from all those who were present at the scene after the collision but have not yet spoken to police.
