Residents of a quiet Derby street reported an attack on one of the properties on the road last night. Residents on Bateman Street, near London Road, told Derbyshire Live that officers were present on the road yesterday afternoon (Saturday, May 7) with police present only around 11 p.m.
Many people living on the road say armed police have taken to the streets. One resident, Conrad Smith, said he had “never seen so many guns in his life.” The bicycle mechanic said: “Three armed officers passed through the common gate and through the fence [into the property].
“There were probably about half a dozen police cars, half a dozen officers, all with massive weapons, and police dogs.

“It was quite a shock, I just got back from work and settled in for a quiet evening.
“It’s usually really quiet here, except for the traffic. The police actually got the house wrong in the first place and ended up breaking down my gate.”
Derbyshire police have not yet responded to requests for comment. It is not known if any arrests have been made.
