Police publish video from CCTV cameras of a missing Scotsman as the frantic search continues

Police have released a video surveillance image as part of their ongoing investigation to trace a missing Scottish hill.

We talked about how the cops were getting “more and more worried” after Mark Dixon was last seen leaving his home on Niven Road in Inverkiting, Fife, around 1:20 PM on Thursday, May 5th.

The 53-year-old was in a gray Ford Focus Estate with roof levers attached and a VRM HY64 registration.

He is an avid pedestrian and is known to visit a number of places in Argyll and Butte, Stirlingshire and the Perthshire Mountains.

Some of his favorite sites include Tyndrum, Oban, Ben Lawers, Glencoe and Callander.

Officers continued to appeal for information and released a video surveillance image of Mark’s last known sight at a gas station, as well as a photo of his car.

Mark is described as a white man, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a shaved head.

When he was last seen, Mark was wearing a black waterproof waist-length jacket with the Regatta or Trespass brand, black walking pants and gray and yellow Salomon walking shoes.

Inspector Kim Stewart said: “Although we are still open to where Mark may have gone, we are now looking to turn to those who are further away, as he may have left Fife.

“We know he stopped at a gas station near his home shortly after leaving home, but has not been seen or heard from since.

“He is known to walk around Scotland and has a number of favorite places such as Killin, Ben Lawers, Glencoe, Callander and Strathyre and Kinloch Rannoch.

“Mark is not equipped to walk on a hill and over time we become more and more concerned about him.

“Please think back, have you seen a man who fits his description? Have you seen the car parked somewhere? It is quite distinctive with the roof grilles.

“Mark, if you see this call – please get in touch, your family is worried and just wants you at home.”

Anyone with any information should contact the police through 101, citing incident number 2865 on Thursday, May 5, 2022.

Police confirmed late Saturday night that Mark was found “safe and sound”.

A statement from the cops said: “Fife police can confirm that Mark Dixon, 53 of Inverkeithing, who has been declared missing, has been tracked down safely and well.

“Thanks to everyone who shared our previous call.”
