The fire engulfed family homes as people evacuated Liverpool Street

A fire tore down a number of houses with a terrace, and the roofs were severely damaged.

Fire crews from the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called in the early hours of Sunday on Great Mersey Street in Kirkdale. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found that the roof of the house with a medium terrace was “well lit”.

The fire affected both houses on both sides of the property. Six fire engines were sent to the scene and photos taken by an ECHO reader show firefighters fighting the fire using an air ladder.

When ECHO was present at the scene shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday, firefighters and Merseyside police were still there. Two cordons were set up, one on St. Alphonse Street and one on top of Great Mercy Street next to where it meets Stanley Road.

Detectives were also at the scene, and firefighters used a drone to assess the damage. The roofs of two of the terraces looked badly damaged and firefighters are working to secure the scene.

A neighbor told ECHO that the houses were built only about two or three years ago and are also in the process of being built.

A man who lives nearby described his shock when he saw the scene this morning and said, “Oh my God, fire. The fire is terrible. ” A spokesman for the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that all residents involved had been evacuated, were safe and accountable.

People living nearby were told to keep their windows and doors closed. People with pre-existing medical conditions should keep medicines nearby, and if any adverse effects occur, dial NHS 111.
