The son of schizophrenic model Nick Cave was jailed for assaulting his mother after asking her to buy him cigarettes – just four years after he was convicted of assaulting his girlfriend.
The legendary singer said today that his troubled son Jethro Lazenby died at the age of 30, just two days after he was released on bail for the attack on his mother and seven years after Cave Arthur’s 15-year-old son fell to his death from rock in Brighton.
Lazenby was in jail after brutally assaulting her mother in March, leaving her “bruised and bleeding.” His lawyer asked for leniency in sentencing because Lazenby had been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
Just four years before the attack on his mother, he was jailed after repeatedly forcibly assaulting his girlfriend in 2018 and saying he would “kill” her.
Jethro was born to Melbourne-based mother Boe Lazenby in 1991, who was in a relationship with Cave at the time. He himself largely works as a model, while taking on a number of acting roles.
Cave said in a statement this afternoon: “It is with great sadness that I can confirm that my son Jethro has died. We will be grateful for the privacy of the family at this time.

“As he stood in front of the victim, the accused reached forward and grabbed the victim’s shoulders with his hands,” the police prosecutor told the court, according to the Herald Sun.
“He rushed forward and pressed his knees to the victim’s face and nose, causing bleeding and bruising.”
Lazenby left the house after attacking his mother to buy cigarettes before she ran to a pub and asked them to call the police.

Nick Cave today confirmed the death of his son Jethro Lazenby, whom he saw in 2006. He said: “It is with great sadness that I can confirm that my son Jethro has died. We will be grateful for the privacy of the family at this time. ”
Jethro was born to his Melbourne-based mother, model Bo Lazenby, in 1991, who was in a relationship with Cave at the time.
She noted his “significant criminal history”, which includes a series of violent attacks on his girlfriend in 2018, during which he spent time in prison.
The court heard Cave’s son shout, “I’m going to kill you,” three times while holding the woman.
Magistrate Bakos said he would review Lazenby’s medical condition and previous criminal history before making a decision.
She said she also expects to see a “exit plan” for Lazenby when he is “finally released”, adding “I don’t know when that will be”.

Jethro had roles in the 2007 film Corroboree and 2011’s My Little Princess – with Isabelle Huppert – but suffered from personal problems for several years after struggling with his mental health.
In 2012, Leisenby told the Evening Standard that his relationship with his father was strained. He was born just 10 days before Cave Luke’s second son.
Although he uses his father’s name to run his own modeling career, Lazenby said he did not meet Cave until he was seven.
