Two controlled explosions took place in Westminster after police responded to reports of a “suspicious vehicle” near Westminster Abbey on Monday.
Police arrived on the scene after officers were notified of the incident at 2:05 p.m., near Westminster Abbey.
Transport to London said Westminster and St James’s Park Tube stations were closed at the time of the incident.
A cordon has been set up around the site and roads have been closed while police investigate.
The incident was stopped at 5 pm after two controlled explosions by police.

Police officers remained at the scene, but the roads have reopened since then.
No one was detained in connection with the incident.
Police investigations are ongoing.
The QEII center, near the abbey, was also temporarily evacuated as police dealt with the incident.
CEO Mark Taylor told Standard: “We can confirm that the QEII center was temporarily evacuated earlier this afternoon on the instructions of the metropolitan police due to a suspicious vehicle parked outside Westminster Abbey.
“Residents were moved to safety while police conducted inspections.
“The QEII Center is now reopened and events are on schedule tonight.”
Westminster police tweeted the incident for the first time: “Police are currently near #Westminster Abbey and are dealing with an ongoing incident involving what is believed to be a suspicious vehicle.
“A number of closed roads have been introduced while emergency services deal with the incident.
