Missing inmate Vicki White and inmate Casey White have been arrested after being caught chasing a fugitive car by U.S. marshals.
Mr White, who was awaiting trial for a murder case, disappeared with Mrs White after leaving a detention center in Florence, Alabama.
On April 29, Ms. White told colleagues that the 38-year-old inmate should go to court for a mental health assessment.
Later that day, when she did not answer her phone, authorities found that such an assessment had not been scheduled.
Ms. White’s patrol car was also found abandoned in a mall.
On Monday, police said the couple – who were not relatives – had been arrested after a truck in which they were pursued by American marshals, crashed in the city of Evansville in Indiana.
Mrs. White, 56, was taken to hospital.

That’s what Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said. “It ended a very long, stressful and challenging week and a half. It ended the way we knew it would. They are in custody.”
U.S. Marshals, a federal law enforcement agency that tracks fugitives, among other things, said it had received information that the Ford pickup truck they were in had been spotted at a car wash in Evansville.
“Special relations”
Investigators believe he was abducted in Tennessee about 275 miles away.
Mr White has served a 75-year sentence for a series of crimes, including attempted murder, robbery and burglary.
He was facing a new charge of murder for stabbing a 58-year-old woman.
Police said there was a “special relationship” between him and Ms. White in prison.
