HBO’s puzzle-filled robot show, which is always full of extra hedonism and murder, is close to returning, as fans apparently dug up a teaser trailer for the fourth season of Westworld before its planned debut.
HBO’s media relations director Chris Godefroy has confirmed that this is an Easter egg created for dedicated fans, and as we saw before previous seasons, there will be more. You can watch it right here on HBO’s YouTube channel (via Reddit) to see that many of our friends, enemies, and Android friends who didn’t know they were androids will continue to play roles. This link appeared in the story of Thrillist on Instagram in a photo of New York, an irritating situation in the upcoming season.
On Tuesday, HBO made the news official, confirming returning cast members Evan Rachel Wood, Thandiv Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Luke Hemsworth, Aaron Paul and Angela Sarafyan. It also mentions new guest star Ariana DeBois, who recently won an Oscar for her performance in West Side Story.
I would delve more into the potential storylines revealed in the flashes and scenes, but even after staying for seasons one and two, I really don’t remember watching season three of this show. Launching approximately two months before the debut of HBO Max and right at the center of the early blockades of the coronavirus pandemic here in the United States on March 15, 2020, the third season did not affect the first two.
The teaser ends with a promised release date for season four on June 26, 2022, with eight episodes planned. The early warning is appreciated because now I have time to try to watch the third season again.
Correction May 9, 11:15 PM ET: Updated to note that the link to the trailer is an Easter egg before the new season, not an expiration, as it first appeared in history on Instagram to find fans.
Updated May 10, 15:15 ET: Added information about the cast from the official PR.
