Even as more and more companies call people back to the office, the remote work market is heating up – word searches “remotely” in a number of job search engines and thousands of results in various industries and experience levels will flood the screen.
In fact, recent research by Ladders, a career site for jobs that pay $ 100,000 or more, predicts that 25% of all professional jobs in North America will be remote by the end of 2022.
Remote jobs can provide a “huge advantage” for recent graduates, career changers, or less experienced professionals who want to advance their careers, says Tony Frana, career services manager at FlexJobs, told CNBC Make It.
“These positions build basic skills that can pave the way for a successful, long-term career path,” she explains. “Remote employees often acquire transferable skills such as effective communication, leadership, time management, organization and a deep understanding of different technologies, simply by working from home.”
To help jobseekers find new opportunities, FlexJobs identifies the top 10 remote jobs that companies hire for entry-level, based on which positions they recruited or published, most often between January and April on the site. All of these positions are either marked as “entry level” by employers in a job advertisement or require less than two years of experience.
Here are the 10 most sought-after remote entry-level jobs in 2022 (so far), according to FlexJobs:
1. Customer service representative
2. Personnel accountant
3. Administrative assistant
4. Recruitment Coordinator
5. Accountant
6. Representative of the call center
7. Invoicing specialist
8. Executive Assistant
9. Account Specialist
10. Marketing Coordinator
FlexJobs also named the top 15 companies that have the most remote entry-level positions on their platform to date this year, a list that includes Robert Half International, CVS Health, Progressive, Randstad and eXp Realty, along with other organizations.
Many technology companies have introduced work models everywhere before the pandemic – but other industries are now adopting flexible policies to attract and retain talent in the tight labor market. FlexJobs reports that customer service; accounting and finance; administrative; the medical and health fields had the highest number of remote entry-level jobs on their site between January and April.
Evan Hawk, co-founder and president of MakeMyMove.com, an online directory of cities that will pay remote workers to move there, recently told CNBC Make It that we should expect to see more people switch from personal and hybrid jobs to remote in the coming months.
As Hawk noted, “Many people have been exposed to new freedom and flexibility with telecommuting during the pandemic and are reluctant to give it up.”
