Two men were arrested after it was alleged that a man was attacked in front of a nightclub and left to fight for his life. The victim is still in “critical condition” in hospital weeks after the incident.
Gloucestershire police said today that the 23- and 31-year-old men were from Cheltenham and were arrested over the weekend on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and later released on bail by police. The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into the serious attack on Club 21 in Cheltenham last month.
Police were called to Regent Street in the city at 1.15 am on Sunday, April 24, after it was reported that a man was found unconscious in front of Club 21 and had head injuries. The 27-year-old victim is believed to have been punched while near the Aquavitae on Ormond Place and he remains in critical condition at Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
