Everything we know about the investigation into Huyton’s murder after the mother was found dead

The “beautiful” mother was found dead at home by police and paramedics, launching a murder investigation.

Merseyside police and an Northwest ambulance were called to Radway Road, Houghton, near the intersection with Lime Cross Road, around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, following reports of a woman’s body found. Officers and paramedics arrived, but the woman was pronounced dead on the spot.

A 21-year-old man, whom detectives say is known to the victim, was later arrested on suspicion of murder. ECHO was told he had been arrested on York Road, a short distance away, where detectives are also investigating this morning.

Emergency services remained on Radway Road and York Road on Wednesday, making door-to-door inquiries and investigating a house and apartment. Here is all we know so far about the investigation into Houghton’s murder;

9 a.m. – The body of a woman was found in the home

Police rushed to Radway Road just before 9 a.m. after a call from someone who said a woman’s body had been found in a home. After police arrived on the scene, they found a 40-year-old woman who had been pronounced dead.

Several police cars, forensic vehicles and ambulances arrived at the scene, and before officers told the public why they were present, neighbors told ECHO that “something devastating has happened.” Others said they were “shocked” and “upset.”

Forensic scientists in white suits began investigating a home on the street.

Lunch – Police confirm that the woman was found dead and begin an investigation

In the afternoon, Merseyside police publicly confirmed that a 40-year-old woman had been found dead at Radway Road. The woman’s close relatives were informed and supported by officials.

Detectives have arrested a 21-year-old Liverpool man who they say is known to the victim on suspicion of murder. He has been detained for questioning.

DI Laura Lamping said: “We can confirm that a woman in her 40s unfortunately died this morning after an accident at a house in Houghton. Although he was arrested, we are at a very early stage of the investigation as we seek to establish what happened at the address.

“That is why it is vital that anyone who has information that can help our investigations contact us. If you live in the area and have witnessed the incident or seen any suspicious behavior on Radway Road this morning, please contact the police immediately. Any information, no matter how little, can be vital to our investigation. “

1.30pm – Second Police Road Crime Scene Investigation

York Road police after arrest for alleged murder

At around 1pm, ECHO reported a second crime scene on York Road, just a short drive from Radway Road. Police confirmed the scenes were connected and said they were investigating the arrest of a 21-year-old man.

Forensic scientists have been spotted entering an apartment building. A neighbor told ECHO that the “armed police” arrived at the block at around 9am.

16:00 – A woman found dead, named

Merseyside police have confirmed that the woman found dead on Radway Road is Lorraine Cullen, a 43-year-old mother who has lived in the area for several years. Her close relatives were informed and supported by specially trained staff.

Ms. Cullen is said to have a young daughter of primary school age who lives with her on the property, as well as an older son and an older daughter. A neighbor told ECHO: “She looked like a beautiful girl, it’s devastating, absolutely devastating. She was nimble, I didn’t know her well, but she was beautiful.

“I just heard the police just before nine this morning and I ran away, they were cut off from the road. The ambulance came and they went inside, but they didn’t take anyone out.”

21:00 – Tribute to the “beautiful mother”

The social networks paid tribute to the mother, with many saying they have fond memories of Lorraine from her childhood.

Janet McGowan said, “RIP Lorraine, you had a great laugh at school, so sad, heartbreaking xx”

Zoe Louise Hendry said, “Such sad news rests in peace, Lorraine, what a wonderful funny woman she was.”
