Manchester United icon Cristiano Ronaldo helped inspire their FA Youth Cup victory over Nottingham Forest by sending a video message to the players before their 3-1 victory over the Reds.
The former Real Madrid star helped motivate the next generation of talent with a recorded message that was shown in the locker room before the start of Old Trafford.
It seems to have worked as United run out of winners, although there was huge controversy over their second goal when Zac Abbott fouled Alejandro Garnacho, which resulted in a penalty despite repetitions showing that the incident took place outside the zone.

The result was 1-1 at this stage, after Warren Joyce’s team struggled to equalize through Josh Powell, but Garnacho put United 2-1 ahead after he scored.
Garnacho then made 3-1 in added time in front of an audience of nearly 70,000, which was a record for the race with Sir Alex Ferguson among the stars in the stands.
But while United secured their first FA Youth Cup victory in more than a decade, the young reds made Forrest proud at night, despite boss Joyce being sarcastic about the penalty.
“Individual mistakes cost us. We are disappointed with the second one, because obviously he is two yards outside the penalty area and that was a crucial stage in the game, “said Joyce.
“Mistakes of our players, yes. But it’s not a penalty. In big games like this, it’s hard for the boys to accept when they look back on it, at a time when the game could have turned out in any way. We had some good chances at the other end and maybe unfortunately we didn’t take the lead.
“This is a bad mistake on our part. It can be said that this is a reservation or even a shipment. But it’s definitely not a penalty. And nowadays, when all the technology is available, I think it’s bad that a finale like this can mark the boys for a long time.
“It’s not even close. It’s not like a difficult decision. You look at the line, the referee is close, and the line looks straight at it – and there is a line.
“It’s not like one of the marginals where you look with VAR and look for an inch here or there. This is glaring.
“It was disappointing. But the first goal was a mistake, and we gave them the second. They have great players, but they haven’t revealed us. The third goal makes it a bigger margin than it was. “
