A missing Texas woman has been found dead in the trunk of her own car

A Texas woman who has been missing for days has been found dead in the trunk of her own car, police said.

The body of 24-year-old Angela Mitchell was found in Texas City on Wednesday after locals told police about an unpleasant odor coming from the trunk of a white Honda that had been parked on the road for days, according to KTRK-TV Houston.

Residents nearby said the car had been parked in the same spot since Mother’s Day.

Mitchell’s family and friends reported her missing on May 6 after failing to return to her home in Dickinson the night before.

“It had been 24 hours since my last contact with her,” Mitchell’s mother told KTRK. “When I tried to find out why she didn’t answer me, she went straight to the voicemail and I could no longer track her on our phone locator. I’m starting to feel sick to my stomach.

Family and friends traced Mitchell’s location to Texas City, where they found her vehicle, but were unable to locate the young woman.

“I met police officers in her vehicle here in Texas City after reporting a missing person and asking for them,” Mitchell’s mother said. “I begged them to search my daughter’s car. “Please search my daughter’s car. Please investigate this. ” I prayed. I asked the police and they just fired me.

Mitchell’s relatives accused the police of not taking the investigation seriously immediately.

Police have not revealed the cause of Mitchell’s death or whether they are looking for a suspect in her death. Police announced a reward of up to $ 5,000 on Thursday for information leading to the arrest or charges of Mitchell’s death.
