Remember when Elon Musk announced he was buying Twitter and that bomb then echoed on social media for days? Well, today is another interesting day in this saga, as Musk revealed that the deal was “temporarily suspended”, pending “details supporting the calculations that spam / fake accounts really represent less than 5% of users.”
If you’re confused about what he’s talking about, a Reuters report came out earlier this month, saying Twitter itself estimates that spam and fake accounts make up less than 5% of users. But now Musk doesn’t seem convinced only 5% of consumers.
Obviously, if a much higher percentage of Twitter users are spam bots and counterfeits, then the company’s value to the buyer will decrease, in which case we assume that Musk will offer less than $ 44 billion, which he has already agreed to pay. It is not clear what exactly is happening, but the news has not surprisingly led to a drop in the share price of Twitter.
As much as it’s worth it, Musk says he’s still determined to see the acquisition pass, so it’s probably a tactic for negotiating at a very late stage. We will let you know what is happening.
