More snow is expected this week on some BC Interior mountain passes.
In a special weather statement, Environment Canada said between five and 10 centimeters of snow would fall on Coquihalla Peak and on Highway 3 west of Alison Pass.
The system will start in the late afternoon on Wednesday and will leave on Thursday morning. Strong southwest winds are also expected.
“Out of season low-pressure system, combined with cold and unstable air mass, will lead to snow on higher passes,” said Environment Canada.
“Rainfall will start like rain at times, mixed with wet snow at night. As temperatures drop late Wednesday afternoon, precipitation will turn to constant snow.
“Nearly 5 to 10 cm of snow is expected before the snow weakens to light precipitation on Thursday morning,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, five centimeters of snow is expected to fall on the Rodgers Pass on Wednesday night.
We advise drivers to be prepared for changing road conditions. Strong winds can also lead to localized snow conditions with reduced visibility.
