Levi Coverley, 18, dies after sand crashes on Toms Beach – NBC10 Philadelphia

A teenager died of his injuries while his sister was rescued after sand fell on them on a beach in Toms River, New Jersey.

18-year-old Levi Coverley from Maine and his 17-year-old sister visited the beach near Seaview Road with the rest of the family around 4pm on Tuesday.

Toms River Mayor Mo Hill told Brian Thompson of NBC New York that the brothers and sisters used frisbees to dig a 10-foot hole in the sand when it collapsed on both.

Police and ambulance crews responded and rescued the teenager. Levi Coverley died in the crash and crews worked to recover his body on Tuesday.
