Durham regional police arrested a man in connection with two sexual assaults and urged other victims to come out.
In March 2022, police launched an investigation after a 14-year-old girl was charged with sexual assault against a suspect.
The sexual violence took place in early 2021 and the victim met with the suspect on a social media platform, according to police. .
A second 14-year-old victim was identified during the investigation and testified to police.
Police said on Wednesday they had been arrested in connection with the two incidents.
Ahmad Aljasem, a 21-year-old Belvil resident, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and sexual intercourse.
“The suspect uses social media sites to meet with his victims and uses Michael’s nickname and claims to be 17 years old. Investigators want to make sure there are no other victims, “a police statement said.
