SAN BERNARDINO, California (KABC) – One person was killed and nine others were injured in a shooting late Friday night with a large crowd gathering for a party in San Bernardino, authorities said.
The shooting began shortly before midnight near the intersection of Palm and Highland Avenue, according to police.
The shooting then continued across the street, a witness told ABC7. The witness, who asked not to be identified by name, said she was at a nearby gas station when she saw teenagers who appeared to be gathered for a prom. She said that at one point a vehicle stopped at the gas station and a man in the car opened fire, shooting two girls.
One person has been pronounced dead on the spot. Family members later said their 21-year-old grandson had been killed. The name of the deceased victim was not confirmed immediately.
Several of the injured were transported to hospitals, where they were treated for injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, authorities said.
