Guerrillas wage guerrilla war in Russian – occupied Melitopol world

The bodies of the two Russian officers lay for an hour on the sidewalk in the center of Melitopol before the sun rose and their comrades gathered the courage to come and pick them up.

A few hours later, a hand grenade exploded near the building where the Russians had stationed their headquarters. A shootout ensued in broad daylight before the attackers melted away.

The city in the southern Zaporozhye region is the third largest occupied by Russia since the invasion began in February, but a fierce Ukrainian guerrilla campaign has prevented the Kremlin from establishing full control there.

On the same day, Wednesday, members of the resistance blew up the railway tracks in front of an armored train carrying Russian troops, ammunition and vehicles.
