One person was killed and eight were injured in a night of gunfire at a party that drew about 100 people to a hookah salon in Southern California, police said Saturday.
San Bernardino police, sent late Friday, found a man shot dead in the parking lot in front of the mall’s lounge, where the party was advertised on social media in the city east of Los Angeles, Sergeant. Said Ekino Thomas. The man, 20-year-old Alan Gresham, was pronounced dead on the spot, police said in a statement.
Eight people who were shot and injured were treated in hospitals. Some were taken away by ambulance and others went alone, he said. Police said their injuries were not life-threatening.
Two people have been detained and one has been arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen weapons, police said in a statement. They were not identified.
The shooting, involving at least two people, began in the hookah lounge after an argument and people poured into the parking lot, where more shots were fired, Thomas said in a statement.
