Storm in Ottawa in pictures CTV news

A powerful storm tore through the Ottawa region on Saturday (May 21st), knocking down trees and hydro poles, damaging buildings and cutting off power. Three people died as a result of injuries received during the storm.

DAMAGED ELECTRICAL LINES

More than 170,000 customers in Ottawa lost electricity and tens of thousands were left in the dark in eastern Ontario. Hydro Ottawa and Hydro One say it will take several days to restore the service to all affected.

STRONG WIND, RAIN AND HAIL

The storm hit Ottawa around 3 pm on Saturday, with gusts of up to 120 km / h at times. Ottawa officially saw 15mm of rain at Ottawa airport, but residents also said they saw hail.
