The man is believed to have received a gunshot wound to the arm, a police statement said.
After the accident, eyewitnesses reported that they saw a car fleeing the scene. While the suspects have not yet been identified, police are asking those who were in the area of 17th Avenue southwest between Ninth and 11th Streets between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. to provide information.
“There were certainly a lot of people in the area,” a spokesman told CBC News.
Police were unable to confirm whether the shooting on 17th Avenue was linked to a shooting earlier in the day in the Acadia community in Calgary.
