A man in serious condition after a shooting in downtown Calgary

Calgary police are investigating a man who was shot dead in downtown Calgary on Monday afternoon.

Police responded to reports of a shooting at 2:50 p.m. in Block 1000 on 17th Avenue Southwest, a busy street in the center.

EMS responded shortly afterwards and found the victim, a man in his late teens, with traumatic injuries corresponding to a firearm.

The man was transported to Foothills Medical Center in a serious but stable condition, BMP reported.

The man is believed to have received a gunshot wound to the arm, a police statement said.

After the accident, eyewitnesses reported that they saw a car fleeing the scene. While the suspects have not yet been identified, police are asking those who were in the area of ​​17th Avenue southwest between Ninth and 11th Streets between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. to provide information.

“There were certainly a lot of people in the area,” a spokesman told CBC News.

Police were unable to confirm whether the shooting on 17th Avenue was linked to a shooting earlier in the day in the Acadia community in Calgary.
