Paris Saint-Germain star Killian Mbape has confirmed that he has been negotiating a transfer with Liverpool before deciding to stay at the French club this summer.
Mbape signed a new three-year contract with the French club over the weekend after refusing Real Madrid to stay in Paris in what has become one of the biggest transfer sagas of recent times. Los Blancos have chosen Mbape over the past two years and have seen a number of offers, the largest of which is worth 200 million euros, rejected last summer. Madrid were confident that the deal would be negotiated, and last week there were reports that he had even negotiated personal terms at the club. Liverpool were also strongly associated with Mbape and the striker revealed that he was considering moving to Anfield before deciding to turn around and stay at PSG.
“We talked a little, but not too much. We talked a little bit, “Mbape told The Telegraph. The French international added that Liverpool actually had a better chance of signing him when he decided to leave Monaco before joining PSG in 2017 at the age of 18. The French club initially signed him on loan before € 145 million plus € 35 million in addition to the permanent transfer a year later.

Mbape was not afraid to show his admiration for Liverpool or Jurgen Klopp and the football they play, and he has a feeling that the Reds will be the English club he would sign for if he ever moved to the Premier League.
Mbape said: “I talked to Liverpool because this is my mother’s favorite club, my mother loves Liverpool. I don’t know why, you’ll have to ask her! This is a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco, I met them. This is a great club. “
The Frenchman added to his latest transfer saga: “Of course, in the end it was between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
“Everyone knows I wanted to go to Real Madrid last year and I think it was a good choice to leave last year. But now it’s different because I was a free agent.
“I was a free agent and it was important that I return to my country. If I had left, I would have left as a great player, but there is a sentimental part. I don’t think my head is closed. It’s not over for me at PSG. “
