Police continue to search for suspect in deadly Q train shooting in Chinatown

CHINAETOWN, Manhattan (WABC) – Police found the gun used to kill Daniel Enriquez in the Manhattan subway and believe they know the identity of the suspect.

The man they want to talk to is a 25-year-old Brooklyn resident with about 20 previous arrests, including an uncovered arms charge last year. He was also previously arrested for assault, robbery, threat and large-scale theft.

The gunman killed a financial researcher hired by Goldman Sachs without any provocation on Sunday morning while Enriquez was on his way to lunch.

New York police believe the suspect handed over the gun to a homeless man as he fled the Canal Street station. The homeless man, for his part, sold the gun for $ 10 to a third party, who reported it to police.

Although the shooting happened in the middle of the day, NYPD Transit returned the forces to patrol the train.

This means that more officers walk on trains and platforms late at night and at night in high crime areas.

This device was released earlier this month before filming on Sunday.

Mayor Eric Adams is also proposing gun detection technology as a way to stem the flow of weapons.

“We need to make sure we have the right staff. We will do an analysis to see what we missed. It will be easier if we can use some of this technology that we are looking for and make sure that we focus on those areas that we have missed. This is the goal. We will fix it, “Adams said.

Weapons detection technology will not be available at every station, and this subway line is not a high crime line or zone.

It is unclear whether any of these measures would stop the shooting.
