A source close to Amber Heard offered a strong response to Kate Moss, who denied allegations that Johnny Depp pushed her down the stairs during their relationship in the 1990s.
Ms Moss testified in the defamation trial against Mr Depp and Ms Hurd for just a few minutes on Wednesday via video link. She said she fell down the stairs while on holiday with Mr Depp in Jamaica and that he helped her get up and took care of her at the time.
“We were leaving the room, Johnny came out in front of me and there was a rainstorm,” she said. “When I left the room, I slid down the stairs and injured my back.
“I screamed because I didn’t know what had happened to me and I was in pain. He came back to help me and took me back to my room and sought medical help.
Asked about the relationship as a whole, which lasted from 1994 to 1998, Ms Moss said: “He never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down the stairs.
The defense refused to cross-examine Ms Moss.
After her testimony ended, a source close to Ms. Hurd told The Independent: “So Johnny Depp did not abuse Kate Moss. This makes it one for two in the abuse column.
“But to date, he is zero for one in the courtroom on the central issue in this case, when he lost the same exact case in England. And when the jury discusses the only issue in this case – whether Amber Heard can exercise her right to free speech – it will be zero for two, no matter how much his lawyers try to distract and distract the jury.
Ms Moss’ name appeared in court earlier this month during Ms Hurd’s testimony, when she described a moment when Mr Depp claimed that “[swung] in ”her sister while she had her back to the stairs.
Ms Hurd said it reminded her of another incident in which she claimed Mr Depp had pushed Ms Moss down the stairs while meeting in the 1990s.
“I just remember Kate Moss and the stairs in my head,” Ms. Hurd said.
The Aquaman actor had previously made the allegation during Mr Depp’s lawsuit against The Sun in the UK in 2020, according to the Associated Press: I remembered information I had heard that he pushed an ex-girlfriend – I believe it was Kate Moss – down the stairs. “
Ms Moss and Mr Depp have been dating for about four years, starting in 1994. Their relationship is often described by the press as turbulent, especially after an incident in 1994 when Mr Depp was arrested for criminal mischief after it is alleged that he destroyed a hotel room he shared with Ms Moss. , reported People.
Until her testimony on Wednesday, Ms Moss had never publicly responded to Ms. Hurd’s assertion that Mr. Depp had pushed her down the stairs – which he denied.
After Ms. Hurd mentioned Ms. Moss in her testimony as part of the U.S. case, Mr. Depp Ben Chu’s lawyer was seen punching, leading to speculation that mentioning Ms. Moss may be useful to Mr Depp’s legal team in some way.
Virginia Dunn, a lawyer based in Virginia, told Fox5 that “because Hurd mentioned Depp’s alleged previous misdeeds, she may have opened the door to herself,” according to the website.
This speculation took place on May 17 during Ms. Hurd’s cross-examination, where she was asked to be arrested in 2009 for domestic violence, including her then-partner Tasha van Ri.
The alleged incident was reported in 2016 by TMZ, which wrote that Ms. Hurd “allegedly grabbed and hit [Ms van Ree] in the hand, which upset [Ms van Ree] and caused the arrest. “
Prosecutors declined to press charges when Ms. Hurd appeared in court the next day, People reported in 2016.
Ms van Ri shared a statement with Variety in 2016, which reads: “In 2009, Amber was wrongly accused of an incident that was misinterpreted and overly sensational by two people in power.
When questioned in court, Ms. Hurd denied committing or assaulting Ms. van Ri. She claims that the story was “planted” after she received a temporary restraining order against Mr. Depp in 2016.
