DALASUS – Even a cracked roof could not stop the Dallas Mavericks from forcing Game 5.
The Mavericks rallied 3 points and held on to the fourth-quarter race of the Golden State Warriors for a 119-109 victory in Game 4 on Tuesday night at the American Airlines Center. The Warriors lead 3-1 in the final series of the Western Conference.
Dallas dropped eight three points in the third quarter to take a 29-point lead in the fourth. Golden State was fleeing to open the last period, forcing the Mavericks to return Luka Doncic.
The Warriors reduced the deficit to eight points with mostly players on the bench on the floor, before making a final push with three starters and Jordan Poole at 3:03. The Mavericks had to keep going through their star to avoid eliminating at least one more game.
Doncic finished one assist after a triple-double with 30 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists. His team-mates provided much-needed help after a grim game of 3. Dorian Feeney-Smith scored 23 points and Reggie Bullock, who came out with zero, added 18.
The Mavericks were 20-for-43 in a 3-point range (46.5%). They fired 50% of the field.
Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 20 points and eight assists. Poole added 14 points from the bench.
The match was delayed 16 minutes after half time as the arena crew dealt with a leak in the roof, which led to the collection of water on the court.
Game 5 is at 9pm ET Thursday (TNT) at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
