Manchester United’s goal Frankie de Jong could not hide his fun after a fan shouted “Eric ten Haag is waiting for you” as he applauded fans after Wednesday’s game.

The Dutch national team thanked its supporters after taking part in Barcelona’s demonstration match against a team of all A-league stars. The Spanish giants withdrew with 3-2 winners against the Australian team, which was ruled by the icon of United Dwight York.

De Jong, one of Ten Hag’s summer targets, came off the bench during the match. United fans will hope that this may be his last visit to Barcelona before a potential reunion of Old Trafford with his former manager of Ajax.

Manchester United are considering two goalkeepers to sign as backups

Newcastle goalkeeper Carl Darlow and Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachman are being considered by Manchester United as a reserve signing to make up for Dean Henderson’s expected departure.

The 31-year-old Darlow has been offered to United by Newcastle in a potential exchange with Henderson, who hopes to join Eddie Howe’s side.

Former Nottingham goalkeeper Forest Darlow is aware of the discussions, but is currently on holiday after the season. Darlow played twice against United last season, saving a penalty from Bruno Fernandes in the 4-1 defeat of Newcastle at home.

The 27-year-old Bachmann has played 12 times in the Premier League for Watford this term and has started 13 times for Austria since making his debut last year.
